After years of planning, filmmaker Wim Wenders and choreographer Pina Bausch were in preproduction for a film on which they were collaborating when Bausch suddenly passed away. Two years later, Wenders forged ahead with the project, turning it into a gorgeous, exhilarating tribute to his friend in which members of Bausch’s dance company re-create her most famous pieces.
