When it comes to attaching the float to crab pots, some people will use stranded rope where you can splice it and make a good, fixed loop. This is all well and good, but sometimes you might want or need to remove the float to tie it up in the mangroves, in which case you will need to add a tag. So, much like attaching the rope to the crab pots themselves, I like to use a bowline knot to attach the float as well. It makes it easier to get them undone to change it over without any risk whatsoever
